ACT Counselling
Not fighting your thoughts. Relating to them differently.
ACT helps you make room for difficult thoughts and feelings β and still act in line with what genuinely matters to you.

01 β The Approach
Working with life, not against it.
ACT is based on the idea that trying to forcefully avoid or control unwanted thoughts and feelings often causes more suffering than the thoughts and feelings themselves.
Instead of fighting them, you learn to relate to them with more distance and acceptance β while consciously moving towards what genuinely matters to you.
ACT-based counselling is not psychotherapy
ACT originated as a well-researched psychotherapeutic approach and a form of behavioural therapy. In my practice, however, I do not offer medical psychotherapy β I offer psychological counselling and coaching that draws on ACT methods.
That means: no diagnoses, no treatment of medical conditions β instead, support in relating differently to difficult inner experiences and becoming more able to act.

02 β The Six Processes
Psychological Flexibility
Six interconnected skills β not a staircase to climb, but an interplay that develops over time.
The goal isn't to feel good all the time. It's to be able to live a good life β even when things are hard.

03 β In a Session
What ACT can feel like in a session
- 1
Notice
What's here right now? Which thought, which feeling, which impulse shows up β without needing to judge or change it straight away.
- 2
Create space
Gain a little distance. Recognise: a thought is a thought, a feeling is a feeling β not an instruction you have to follow.
- 3
Act
Make a choice that fits what matters to you β even while carrying some uncertainty.

Why I work with ACT
For me, ACT isn't a collection of techniques to apply. It's a stance: meeting difficult inner experiences with more openness β while staying connected to what actually matters in real life.
I bring that stance into every session: calm, honest, and with respect for whatever feels hard right now.
